URGENT WORD: BREAK THESE KINDS OF SOUL TIES BEFORE 2026

For the last few weeks, I’ve felt a really strong impression from the Lord to deal with soul ties, and at first, this felt very personal. It was just in my quiet time with the Lord, where He was telling me to take a bit of a stocktake of my year and soul ties, the people/things I’m connected to, when I felt compelled to share this with you all, too.

But firstly, what is a soul tie? Well, a soul tie is where you are connected to someone or something in your soul.

It’s where there is some kind of emotional connection that you have with something/someone, whether it’s through a relationship with somebody, or there’s some kind of assignment or alignment with someone like a mission, but it goes deeper than that because a soul tie is a covenant of sorts. Here’s an example:

“And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.” - 1 Samuel 18:1

Back in those days, I believe they understood the weight of a promise and covenant more than we do now. These days, it's less understood, and it feels kind of like the unspoken or subconscious covenants that we make because they come in the form of vows, they come in the form of agreement, they come in the form of giving permission or access.

And generally, soul ties are connected to people, but they can also be soul ties that you create that are connected to inanimate things, like an assignment that you had, something that you were birthing, or some area of your destiny.

It might even be a soul tie you had to a movement, a network, a church, a place, or a region.

A soul tie can be a Godly thing, and if so, it feels right. But with the wrong kind, there’s some kind of expectation or a pull, revealing that there’s something that you’re silently partnering with that is making you slowly sick. And that’s what many are dealing with right now.

I believe that the distinction is that we’re meant to have ties to the people and things that God ordains and that God permits (1 Samuel 18:1). But oftentimes, one of the most destructive areas to a Christian’s life is that we create soul ties to people without God’s permission.

We do it because it looks right. We do it because that person looks like a good, godly Christian, right? That project looks like the right opportunity. That looks like the right network. That looks like the right place. So our hearts are in the right place, but sometimes, out of having a need that desires to be met, we make these agreements and these covenants that we were never meant to make. (2 Corinthians 6:14).

A YEAR OF REVEALING THE WRONG TIES

Christy and I have made a fair share of wrong covenants in our lifetime, and it’s cost us deeply. And I believe 2025 was a year that the Lord removed the veil and showed us all of the destructive things that we were tied to and tolerating, that we didn’t even realise were even there, whether they were in a family setting/environment, a church environment, or just relationships and friends around us.

And there are two parts of this. The first part is that there are just straight-up demonic things that have been robbing you for a long time, and you’re wondering why the warfare has been there. This year, God revealed it. God revealed the snakes. He revealed the sources. He revealed all the places that these things have been robbing you.

YOU MUST LEAVE THEM IN EGYPT

The other side of it is this: you are in a season that God’s leading you out of Egypt, and the things that you tolerated in Egypt will kill you in the Promised Land if you allow it to be attached to you. It will actually hold you back and prevent you from stepping into what God has for you (Hebrews 12:1).

So right now, God’s dealing with that. He’s been revealing them so that you don’t get robbed when you enter the place of promise.

I’ve had so many messages and people asking me, “Nate, talk about soul ties. Talk about the areas that we need to break.” And I believe this is a directive for all of us between now and the new year.

In the next 24 hours, do business with God, break soul ties!

THE OPEN DOOR

Now I want to share with you the spiritual mechanics of this for a moment.

What is the soul tie?

A soul tie is the connection point or access point for the enemy to get in. It is the key.

You’re giving away a part of yourself, and access to yourself and to your heart, so that something, anything, can get in. It looks harmless, it looks like nothing, but then what happens is that the soul tie is actually the open door. The soul tie is not what does the damage; it’s what comes next.

THE INTRUDER

The next step is that the enemy sends a familiar spirit, which is normally what is operating on the person you’ve come into agreement with, or have a soul tie with. That spirit that is on them, they don’t even realise it’s operating on them and through them, then it begins to operate in your life (Mark 5:2–9). Then that familiar spirit begins to study you and makes you its test subject. It studies the ins and outs of your life, your emotional status, your mental status, your past situations, your past hang-ups, your woundedness, your trauma, and it knows you sometimes even better than you.

It knows your weaknesses, and it even knows your strengths. And then what it does is it begins to calculate to know when to hit and how to hit, and how to get inside your head to manipulate you out of your destiny, your calling, and your voice.

THEN THE SWIRL BEGINS

That’s when witchcraft chatter begins to swirl. That’s when that person is enabled by the enemy to begin to fill that space that you’ve given it access with noise, with the wrong voice, and with destructive propaganda to cheat you out of your purpose and your destiny, to break you down, and then it affects you mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. It dismantles you from the inside out. It’s the greatest Trojan horse because it goes under the guise of HOLY. And it operates in plain sight through people who, to the untrained eye, are good people, but you just don’t understand why you’ve been feeling agitated.

In 2025, God’s been revealing it, right? Boy, has He ever.

IF UNDEALT WITH - ENTER THE STRONGMAN

But the last step of this, I want to tell you what happens if you don’t deal with these soul ties and where these familiar spirits and witchcraft are getting into your life. Whether it’s coming through text messages or emails, if you don’t actually begin to shut it off and cut it out of your life, it turns into a stronghold where a strong man inhabits (Ephesians 4:27; Matthew 12:29).

And right now, God is actually saying to so many people that the familiar spirit and the witchcraft have settled on you for so long, it’s becoming a stronghold, and there’s a strong man there, and God wants you to break that strong man.

I’ve had to do this in my own life so many times because that strong man reveals why you even opened that door in the first place. That strong man reveals why you even allowed that relationship with that person access in the first place. For me, it was a spirit of rejection and an orphan spirit, allowing the wrong people in my life because I wanted affirmation. I wanted someone to tell me that I was worthy. I wanted somebody to affirm what I was doing in my life, and it has cost me greatly.

What is it for you? Has the Holy Spirit revealed it?

So let’s get down to business together

Firstly, write a list under each of these headings.

1. People you have discerned that have had access to you, and you have soul ties with, that are not ordained by God to have the access level you have given them.

2. People who are sent by the enemy who have access to you and have been sabotaging you.

3. The strongman (the dominating spirit that opened this door).

4. Assignments you need to give to the Lord and surrender and sever.

5. Places or regions you need to give to Jesus.

6. Old season promises that you need to give to the Lord.

Ok, you ready to move on?

Right now, it’s time to do business. I pray that as you’ve been reading this, the Holy Spirit has begun to highlight to you the soul ties you need to take care of. Does it mean that you need to kick people out of your life? No, it means you need to do business first with the soul tie, and then God will tell you what to do next. Does it mean that you need to leave that place? No, it doesn’t necessarily mean you need to leave an environment. It means you need to disconnect that access point. And so I want to tell you quickly how to do that and lead you through that right now.

Pray with me:

Jesus, I’m coming to You right now because I want to be free, and I’m done carrying emotional and spiritual connections that keep pulling me backward instead of letting me move forward. I ask You to forgive me for any ways that I opened the door through wrong choices, unhealthy relationships, compromise, staying connected longer than I should have, or giving the wrong access level to people, and I’m choosing to turn away from that today. I also choose to forgive _______ for what they did to me, how they hurt me, used me, controlled me, or left me stuck, and I’m letting go of the right to hold onto bitterness, resentment, or emotional pain.

Lord, I’m sorry for making a vow, covenant, or promise you didn’t tell me to make and for the pain it’s caused me and the warfare it’s brought.

Right now, in your name Jesus, I bind the strong man ________(the name of the spirit you discerned in part 3 above) connected to this soul tie, every controlling, manipulating, deceiving, or dominating influence that has kept this attachment in place, and I declare that it no longer has power or permission in my life.

I renounce and break every unhealthy soul tie between me and __________ (people and places). I cut off every emotional and spiritual attachment connected to it, whether it came through lust, fear, trauma, control, or dependency, and I break it off completely, and I release them, and I release myself, because I no longer agree with this connection having influence over my thoughts, my emotions, my identity, or my future.

Wash me clean from everything connected to this, remove every lingering effect from my mind, my heart, and my desires, and heal the wounds underneath that made me stay attached in the first place, and fill every empty place with Your peace, clarity, and strength, and help me walk forward without being pulled back into old patterns.

I choose freedom, I choose wholeness, and I choose a new way forward in 2026, and I receive that freedom now in Jesus’ name.

Lastly, I prophesy - I am free from all ties and chains in Jesus’ name!
