I HEAR THE LORD SAYING, “I AM HEALING THE OUTCASTS.”

Have you been hurt, abused, and spat out by the system?

Have you spent years not fitting the institution, beating to a different drum, and being alienated for it?

And now, do you feel like the years of rejection, judgment, slander, and witchcraft has started to make you feel like a leper?

If so, this word is for you.

As I was waking up yesterday morning, I kept hearing the words, “cleanse the lepers,” over and over.

It just stuck with me for hours so I prayed through it, and I felt so strongly the Lord was saying that He is going to cleanse the lepers in this season.

But who are the lepers? I believe the lepers is anyone who has been made unclean through something they’ve done, inherited, suffered, or walked through in this past season that has AFFLICTED them and put them in a spiritual sickbed.

It’s been an assignment of the enemy to compromise your mission by sliming you until you are broken by it.

How do you know the enemy has tried to make you a leper?

You just don’t feel right. You maybe won’t scream it from the rooftops but you feel like you are crying out for the Healer to restore you and make you whole.

In Matthew 8:3 Jesus cleansed a leper– “And Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, saying, ‘I will; be clean.’ And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.”

What if the lepers in this season are those who have felt like they are too far gone?

Those who have been inflicted with so much pain, so much loss, so much brokenness that they feel like they are past gone. Past repair. Past hope.

Those facing impossibilities in areas of their lives where they just don’t see how the hand of God could move, heal, or work.

In the Old Testament, leprosy was fatal. You eventually died from it. That’s why they drove them out of the cities.

What if leprosy in this hour represents a sickness of the mind– where the mind has been muddied and broken– and cleansing the lepers means driving out unclean spirits from every square inch of people’s souls, minds, and hearts?

What if it’s the Lord cleaning out even a lot of the church from the leprosy that has been hidden?

Here’s what really came to me: The lepers are the outcasts. The misfits. The ones who have been driven outside, looking like they are the diseased ones when they are actually the John the Baptists.

What if we’ve been looking at them like there’s something wrong with them when they’re called to lead the charge?

God is cleansing the lepers. There are a lot of them. There are a lot of people being tainted, burnt, abused and hurt by the system. God is healing them right now.

Religion would never be able to heal or restore a leper. Religion wants revenge. Religion wants blood.

But the Lord wants to redeem and heal the leper, and restore them back– even to the very places and people that cast them out in the first place. That’s the heart of God.

So what did the Holy Spirit want to communicate to me when I heard the words, “cleanse the lepers”?

I believe we are in a hospital age of the church right now. We’re in a season where we are going back to the very roots of the gospel, where Jesus said to heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, and drive out demons.

“Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.” –Matthew 10:8

We’re in the days where God is cleansing and purifying His church to reset the church.

And this is the very core thing we’re seeing on display that God is doing. Where in the midst of people still pursuing celebrity culture, still pursuing the institutional mindset and system that is not transforming or renewing them, there is a hunger and a deep cry for what is authentic and what is real.

And those who are responding to it are the ones who are coming into the fullness of their healing. They’re meeting Jesus their Healer, and He’s setting them free.

Yes, I believe this leprosy is a byproduct of a religious system that wants them wounded, bitter, and wants them to hate God and the Kingdom, so it afflicts them and casts them out.

What’s wild about this passage in Matthew 10:8, “cleanse the lepers,” is that Jesus didn’t use the word ‘heal,’ which is therapeuō in the Greek. He used the word katharizō, which means to purify, to purge, and to make clean. And that’s what we need to understand– Leprosy isn’t just a disease issue. It’s a defilement and an exile issue as well.

That’s why we need to understand the three dimensions of what God is doing right now in the church. There are three areas where God is cleansing the lepers in this season.

1- He is getting to the very root of the contamination.

When you go through seasons of abuse and being outcast, you don’t intend for this, but you can come into bondage. You can come into agreement with that spirit of rejection. You can come into agreement with that defilement, to the point that your mind is in bondage and you are living under and in a spiritual leprosy… a deep woundedness.

I’ve seen this many times over the years, because I was a leper myself. I was a wounded prophetic voice myself. I went through the system and was spat out of this system. I didn’t realize that the pain contaminated me spiritually.

2- God wants to heal you physically.

When Jesus cleansed the leper, he was not only physically healed but his life was put BACK ON TRACK. What does that mean for today? See it like this. Many people get healed physically in their bodies when you drive out the contamination, that demonic spirit. And that is important. But what also starts to happen is that the areas of sabotage and chaos get corrected where it derailed you in your life and driven you off course.

3- He is restoring you back to kingdom community.

This is a big one. Are you ready for it? When someone was diseased with leprosy, it was impossible for them to be made whole. However, according to Leviticus, they had to go to the priest to be verified that they were made clean again.

“This shall be the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing: he shall be brought to the priest. And the priest shall go out of the camp, and the priest shall examine him; and indeed, if the leprosy is healed in the leper…” –Leviticus 14:2-3

I feel like what the Lord is saying right now through this is that He wants to restore you back to kingdom community. Lepers are outcasts not only because of the system but because of a mindset that isolates. It’s a mindset that keeps people out of kingdom connection, community, and covenant, so that you are isolated, and you stay in that contamination. That contamination will lead you to further bondage and brokenness.

I feel like what the Lord is saying in this hour is, “I’m breaking that.” We are in the beginning of an Acts 2 hour where God is restoring us to our roots.

He’s restoring the lepers outside of the camp, back to the camp. It doesn’t mean you have to go join the system of the institution. But God is saying, “I’m going to surround you with family again. I’m going to surround you with people again.”

And lastly, we are going to be shocked, and many Christians will offended in the days to come by who God brings into the kingdom.

We’re going to look at the ones we thought were unclean. We’re going to look at the ones we thought were not in the lifestyle we thought they should be in, and God will cleanse them and heal them, restore them, deliver them, and bring them into the family of God.

I believe we’re in those days where God is casting His net wide, and He’s looking for a people, a church, who will rise up and be His nurses, be His healers of the hour.

And that’s why it starts with us right now. I’ve said this many times before: God is healing the healers. But I want to take it one step further. God is cleansing the healers right now. He’s cleansing your mind. He’s cleansing your heart.

Maybe as you’re reading this, you realize there’s been a level of leprosy in your life. It’s like a sickness that doesn’t leave. It feels like a deep, deep poison and bitterness on the inside of you that you don’t know how to let go of.

If that’s you, pray this: “Holy Spirit, can You cleanse me? I’ve been a leper. Cleanse me.”

Lepers, it’s time to come home. And it’s time to step into the front lines for this fresh and new and authentic move of God.
